Vue53: Nice Hood Deserves Clean Streets

Wednesday, May 01, 2013

Letter To:
Alderman Burns, 4th Ward

This is a letter in support of the McMobil plan.  I think the more people we bring to 53rd, the more hope there is for that finally being a nice part of our neighborhood!  Thanks for your work to make this happen.  Please do include enough parking!

Also, while I have your ear, if you have any options to influence the litter situation in Hyde Park and especially on the litter scattered 53rd and 57th streets, please use the influence to change this!  I sometimes avoid doing business there as the litter is such a downer.  Why not go downtown where streets are clean?  More often emptied garbage cans, solar compacter garbage cans, sidewalk sweepers/street cleaners all would do a world of good for the neighborhood.  With all of the millions of dollars the University is investing to make this a better community, I think taking care of litter would be a low end plus -- small pain for huge gain.

Thanks for all efforts on Hyde Park's behalf!
