Former Shoreland Hotel Could Become Luxury Living Space

Thursday, May 02, 2013

The firm, Studio Gang Architects, is renovating the historic Shoreland Hotel to create new

luxury residential living and event space.  Once a fashionable hotel, The University of Chicago

later acquired it, reportedly for student dormitory space.  That plan may have reconsidered

because the property was too detached from campus.

The University eventually sold the building, giving way to new ideas for its  use.

Studio Gang announced that it has designs for converting the building into approximately

350 residential units for Antheus Capital.

According to recent press, the architects are trying to update the interior and landscape design while treading lightly on the 1920s landmark.

Renovation project is ongoing and should provide a great source of energy, style and history.
