New Hyatt Place Hotel in Harper Court

Monday, June 24, 2013

The New Harper Court development is making huge strides towards completion. Developed in partnership with the University of Chicago and the City of Chicago, Harper Court is a two-phase, 1.1 million square foot mixed-use development located at 53rd Street and Lake Park Avenue in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood.

Anchored by a 150,000 sq. foot office/commercial space tower, Harper Court will also host the new Hyatt Place hotel, across the street from Harper Theater.  The hotel under construction at 5225 S. Harper Avenue will feature free wi-fi throughout, a 24-hour fitness center, an indoor pool, and meeting space and packages.  With queen and king sized beds, “boardroom suites,” and wheel-chair accessible guest rooms, the Hyatt Place rooms also offer the comforts of home including a 42-inch flat panel HDTV, a small refrigerator, and coffee maker (for those who don’t have plans to visit Starbuck’s on the corner).

Interested in booking space or rooms in advance?  Maurese Nelson, the hotel’s sales director, said the hotel has been taking reservations over the phone (773-752-5300).

Harper Court is the first large-scale redevelopment initiated in Hyde Park in decades.  If that doesn’t excite you, maybe the new underground parking garage structure or the new surface lot will bring a smile to your face.

The new self-service, surface lot on the west side of Harper Avenue (between 53rd & 52nd Street) is open now.
