The Oakwood Boulevard Neighbors Associations Neighborhood Enhancement Grant (NEG) Project Seeks Donations and Volunteers for August 1st & 2nd

On Saturday July 18, The Oakwood Boulevard Neighbors Association (OBNA) began the restoration of the landscape along Oakwood Boulevard. This restoration is one of the 10 Neighborhood Enhancement Grant (NEG) projects funded by the SECC and University of Chicago to improve the quality of life in within the SECC footprint. Site preparation work was started at both Monumental Baptist Church and BIS Church locations.  OBNA would like to thank all community volunteers who came out to help, along with leadership and representatives from both Churches.  
 
OBNA welcomes volunteers for the next two scheduled work days on Saturday August 1st and Sunday August 2nd. Additionally, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle will be visiting the site on Sunday August 2nd at 1:30PM. Attendance is encouraged to proudly show President Preckwinkle the collaborative spirit of the Oakwood Boulevard community.

OBNA is also seeking financial or in-kind contributions for the NEG project. The following plant donation are highly encourage and welcome with no quantity limits:

  • Purple cone flowers (echinacea)
  • Black eyed Susans
  • Day Lilies (Stella D'oro)
  • Hostas (Variety, but mainly Hosta Patriot)

Plants can be donated in honor of someone or something such as a memorial plant. Please contact obna2013@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer or make a contribution.
