Celebrate Hyde Park This Week

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

On behalf of the Hyde Park Vitality Committee, we are pleased to announce the return of the 4th Annual Celebrate Hyde Park Summer Music Festival, designed to showcase the Hyde Park community. The Festival will be held on two days, Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21, 2013 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. Live musical performances begin at 1:00 pm each day. The festival features a variety of arts and craft vendors, Nichols Park petting zoo, 53rd street specials, delicious foods, and cold beverages from the beer and wine garden.

The musical headliners include Funkadesi on Saturday, July 20th and the Family Stone band on Sunday, July 21st. We are expecting to draw approximately 10,000 attendees daily. In order to accommodate the expect crowd, 53rd Street will be closed from Harper Avenue to Kimbark Avenue for 48 hours (from 12:01 am Saturday 7/20 through 11: 59pm on Sunday 7/21).

Like prior years, we anticipate this event will transform 53rd Street into a lively, pedestrian thoroughfare. Please come out and join us in the festivities.  If you are interested in VIP Seating, please donate online.  Each donation is eligible to win VIP passes to the Chaka Khan concert event (7/28) the week AFTER Celebrate Hyde Park.

This year's event is sponsored by Hyde Park Vitality Committee, including the University of Chicago’s Office of Civic Engagement, Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce, Artworks Chicago, and the South East Chicago Commission.
