The acclaimed vocal ensemble Chicago a cappella launches its third decade of performances with The Best of Chicago a cappella: A 20th Anniversary Celebration. This concert will showcase the diverse and compelling repertoire that is the hallmark of Chicago a cappella. The program will feature favorite spirituals, Renaissance music, folk songs, sacred works, and pop tunes. Chicago a cappella will look to the future with “The Windhover,” a new commission from composer Paul Crabtree based on the poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins. Audiences will also enjoy poignant music by Chicago composer Stacy Garrop; choral works from France, Sweden, and Mexico; and a rocking chorus from the musical Spring Awakening.
