SECC Completes Business District Improvement Project on 51st Street

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

The South East Chicago Commission, in partnership with the 51st Street Business Association, is proud to announce the completion of the first MOU Business District Improvement project on 51st Street between King Drive and Wabash Avenue.

Red stone planters and garbage cans have been installed throughout the business district to beautify the streetscape and make it more inviting. The planters host an arrangement of perennial plants which will give way to seasonal plantings with the changing seasons. This project was made possible from funding from the Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Chicago, and from the work of the 51st Street Business Association, Bronzeville Green, Wausau Tile, and the Bronzeville Community Garden.
