Small Business Saturday - November 26, 2016

Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country.  Not only do we invite you to "shop small" but we also strongly encourage you to shop locally.

Shopping locally at small businesses in our neighborhoods (1) helps maintain the diversity of stores on the mid-south side, (2) builds strong neighborhoods, (3) creates jobs, (4) provides funds for more city services through sales tax, and (5) promotes community development.

While our small businesses will eagerly accept your purchases on Small Business Saturday, please take advantage of sales, deals, and unique appeals in our local communities whenever you do your holiday shopping.  Celebrate the holidays and shop locally-owned independent stores to support your neighborhood.

Thanks to the contributions of Bank of America and PNC Bank, the South East Chicago Commission and Downtown Hyde Park invite you to

In 2015, Wendy Walker Williams, SECC Executive Director and Jake Sapstein, owner of Robust Coffee, were featured live on ABC 7 Chicago:

While showing Hyde Park's 53rd Street including the Silver Room and Belle Up, NBC Chicago also spent time interviewing Tiffany Paige at Modern Cooperative, one of the latest small businesses to join the new Downtown Hyde Park business district.  To view the video, visit Modern Cooperative Hyde Park on Facebook.
