Small Business Saturday 2017

Shopping locally at small businesses in our neighborhoods (1) helps maintain the diversity of stores on the mid-south side, (2) builds strong neighborhoods, (3) creates jobs, (4) provides funds for more City services through sales tax, and (5) promotes community development.

Thanks to the contributions of Bank of America and PNC Bank, South East Chicago Commission collaborates with Downtown Hyde Park Chicago to activate the business districts throughout the year, and especially for the nationally recognized shopping day known as Small Busines Saturday.

On November 25, 2017, SECC supported five Small Business Saturday events. Small Business Saturday shoppers were encouraged to take advantage of special discounts while being entertained with free refreshments, chances of winning up to $100 dollar gift certificates, and live music by Chicago’s own Low End Theory Drum Ensemble and DJ Kwest_On.
