Small Business Shop Local 2020

Shopping locally at small businesses in our neighborhoods (1) helps maintain the diversity of stores on the mid-south side, (2) builds strong neighborhoods, (3) creates jobs, (4) provides funds for more City services through sales tax, and (5) promotes community development.

Supported by Bank of America, PNC Bank and Hyde Park Bank, South East Chicago Commission’s 2020 Shop Local campaign is a collaboration with the 51st Street Business Association, Downtown Hyde Park Chicago (SSA #61), Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce, Quad Communities Development Corporation (QCDC), and Washington Park Chamber of Commerce.

SECC launched this year’s Shop Local campaign with 52 small businesses, encouraging shoppers to support Southeast lakefront Chicago neighborhoods during the holiday season. This year’s five-week campaign will begin on Small Business Saturday, November 28 and continue through Thursday, December 31, 2020. Shoppers are invited to save and submit receipts from in-store and online purchases above $15.00 for a chance to win one of six (6) Southside Shopping Spree Drawings.
