CHICAGO (September 28, 2022) – The South East Chicago Commission (SECC) announced the 4th Annual SECC Regional Economic Development Symposium will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022. The SECC Symposium is an independent forum focused on opportunities for business development, changes in the local marketplace, and investments in Chicago’s Southside regional commercial corridors.

NBC5 Weekday Morning Co-Anchor, Michelle Relerford will host this year’s Keynote Conversation “The Art of Transformation: Reimagine, Grow, Sustain” in conversation with Gloria Castillo, Director, We Rise Together at The Chicago Community Trust and LaForce Baker, Vice President, Community Impact at World Business Chicago.

“SECC has a long-term vision and commitment to economic development and vitality in Chicago’s Southeast Lakefront communities,” said Diane Burnham, SECC Executive Director. “As the city continues to recover, we are excited about the new opportunities and plan to keep equity and inclusion at the forefront.”

The online Symposium will feature Reimagining Entrepreneurship: Concept, Capital and Commercial Space. This session welcomes the expertise of:

The anchor session entitled “Procurement Opportunities in Chicago’s New Development” engages business owners to learn about contracts and the contracting process for Bally’s Casino, the ONE Central Project at McCormick Place, and the Bronzeville Lakefront Project (formerly Michael Reese).

The Symposium will broadcast online from 9:00 am to 11:30 am on October 8, 2022. Access is complimentary with registration. Participants are also invited to attend the hospitality reception from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Little Black Pearl.
